About the Hike

The hike is a moderate 4 - 6 miles. The trail begins across a broad expansive meadow above Sunrise Visitor Center and continues up to Sourdough Ridge. After passing by Frozen Lake we ascend up Burroughs Mountain. The bulk of the trail is above tree line which will be ideal for Moonlight.

What happens if it’s cloudy?

We want you to have the best experience possible on the mountain. If the weather determines that it is not a good night for the moon, we will offer a full refund or option to reschedule to another more favorable night.

I’m scared of hiking in the dark, any tips?

Hiking in the dark can be intimidating! Don’t worry, we’ll have headlamps if needed and guides will be marked with glowsticks so you can easily distinguish them in the dark. We also offer trekking poles which are helpful in navigating uneven terrain under low lighting. But you’ll be surprised at how bright the moon can be!
